This week in Seminary Ricky and I have begun to study the Joseph Smith History and the Doctrine and Covenants. Church history is by far my most favorite subject. I really enjoyed going to a Singles Conference in Kirtland, Ohio last autumn. Unfortunately this year it is being held the same weekend that our Ward is planning a weekend in Nauvoo. So I have chosen to go to Nauvoo this time and hope to post some beautiful pictures. While in Kirtland last year we drove down to visit the John Johnson Farm where section 76 of the Doctrine and Covenants was received (the Three Degrees of Glory vision) and stood in the room where Joseph and Sidney (Rigdon) beheld the vision of the Telestial, Terrestial, and Celestial Kingdoms and the outer darkness of the sons of perdition. That room was full of other men who saw the glory and heard the descriptions of the vision but did not see the vision. What I am trying to convey to Ricky is that others shared most of those beginning experiences of heavenly visitations with Joseph Smith. It does no good for anti-Mormons to attack just Joseph Smith . . they have to attack the other eye witnesses and that is where their lies and deceptions brake down. Anyway, I am grateful for my membership in the Church and for my testimony that the true Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored on the earth today.
